Hiya Kelly, its all relative. Personally I'd say Perth is the best place for families which is why we moved here.

I'm sure families living in Brisbaine, Melbourne and Sydney would probably beg to differ though :)

I guess it really depends on what you're looking for. Perth gives us everything we could possoble want as a family.

Great beaches, lovely parks and a nice lifestyle. House prices as you've probably gathered if you've been reading the blog are a little on the high side but by UK standards they are bow pretty similar i guess.

Check out websites like <a target="_blank" href="http://www.realestate.com.au" rel="nofollow">Realestate.com</a> to see what you can get for your money.

To convert your £ = $ use a site such as <a target="_blank" href="http://www.xe.com" rel="nofollow">XE.com</a> (links open in a new window)

Best wishes and keep in touch

Regards

It really dropped the number of cyclists in the city for a couple of years and nearly ruined the bike-hire company near the narrows bridge. It's only taken 17 years for everyone to get used to it.

I'm told it's a very, very boring lecture - best missed :)

Wow Kirsten, thanks so much for bringing this to my attention. I never realised it was actually a LAW to wear a helmet in Western Australia!

I'll be getting one this weekend, as for this morning I decided to take the bus due to the slightly dodgy (wet) weather we've been having lately, looks like I may have just saved myself a lecture. :)

Thanks again and thanks for following the Blog :D

Hi there,

I've been following your blog for a while wihtout commenting, so I feel very rude to chip in for the first time to make a correction, even if it is primarily about the law.

Bicycle helmets have been compulsory in Western Australia since 1990, with the police enforcing the law (usually with a lecture and a video) since 1992.

Current laws relating to bicycle riding on the streets and shared paths of Perth can be found at the DPI website - http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/cycling/1976.asp

Have fun riding - I'm very much enjoying my morning commute from Mt Lawley into the city.

Cheers,
Kirsten.
