Hey all. Not much to write about in the world of Australian immigration so I thought I’d write a little entry just to say hi.
I have a number of Google news alerts set up under various Australian Immigration categories on the basis that if anything happens then I’ll get to know about it quite quickly. Having said that, there doesn’t appear to be much of interest happening right now.
If you’re trying to enter Australia illegally then there are plenty of stories in the news about how NOT to do it.
Boat people (i.e. Folks trying to migrate illegally to Australia on small boats) seem to be making headlines over here in Australia on almost a daily basis.
It seems the Aussie immigration folks are paying very close attention to Australian shores after a number of high profile incidents where boat after boat full of illegal immigrants were turning up on Aussie soil, apparently unchallenged!
A Senate inquiry into the welfare of international students, prompted by the spate of attacks on Indian students, will report in November on student safety, accommodation, visa requirements and support mechanisms.
According to a story appearing on the Australian website today the integrity of Australia’s immigration system is in jeopardy as evidence emerges of potential flaws in the rules governing overseas students… Strewth! We could have told you that over a month ago
As far as our forums are concerned there’s been much discussion over the DIAC teams and grant letters there’s also been some decent discussions around what happens after your employment has been verified from those applying under the applicable visa classes. We’ve been getting literally thousands of people visiting our forums every day so if you havn’t already then check them out.
Me..? Well, it’s been a week back at work after spending a great week in Sydney catching up with the in-laws. I say Sydney but the in-laws live approx 1.5 hours north of Sydney in a small suburb near Gosford.
First time I’ve been there to be honest and I was extremely impressed with how green the countryside is over there.
For those who are interested I’ll post a future entry about my visit with a few photos so watch this space.
Happy Friday!
