Sorry about being blunt but the fact remains; Only you know what kind of
hotel you like. Wait until you get there, there'll be plenty to choose from.

It amuses me when people write in and ask questions like "which is the best
    place to stay in Brisbane/Sydney?"
Why do people need to know that before they arrive? Everyone likes diff
things so make your own decision. Surely you wouldn't pick a place to live
    based on someone elses sayso.

I'm pleased it amuses you. I need to know "that" due to the
fact I will be travelling with two young children, and would appreciate
advice from families with children of a similar age, who have already
    visited the area.

    My previous post stands!!

You might want to stay near the city to give you a chace to get in and
out quickly and easily. We stayed in the Albert Park Hotel in
Springhill once. It was only okay, but resonably priced and close to
town. The Roma Street parklands in just across the road which the kids
can use to let off steam. There are several other hotels in this area
to meet various requirements. We used to walk into the city but of
course the kids kept bitching about the distance because it's further
than the front door. (It's probably about a mile to Queen Street).

There are a few websites that allow you to browse hotels for
availability and pricing. I can't remember any URLs offhand but a
quick search should locate them. Try "Hotels Brisbane" for a start and
you should be away. We got some good last minute deals by booking
    online.

If you do go into the city, bring you swimming gear and go to the city
beach. Great fun in this weather. Theres usually loads of free stuff
on around the city so you should find plenty to do. I've been here a
few months now. If you want know anything more specific, just ask. I
might be able to point you in the right direction. Enjoy your stay.
