we don't but hope to be soon!!

If you do a search on "Brisbane" there should be loads of stuff come up
on the different suburbs icluding the Bayside area.

ABC Diamond, Mrs Dagboy and some others on this site live in the Bayside
area and are usually very helpful. Also there is a web site called
www.britzinbrisbane.com which you may find useful.

When are you hoping to be there??

    Thanks chuck

Our bond money gets paid in on wednesday and then our assurer has to
have an interview, weve not had a request yet for police and medicals
but we are going to apply for them next week so fingers crossed we'll
know in the new year if they let our mad bunch in!

We have a house to sell but with a bit of luck are hoping to be there
around June time, I can't wait.

When are you hoping to get over there - are you going to Brisbane also?

This website is great for info isn't it!

    Hi,
    Birkdale ☺☺☺ / Wellington Point
☺☺☺☺ are good desirable bayside suburbs as
they are close to the water. Housing ranges from old timber houses to
new detached estates (farm land is fast disappearing). 'Older' parts
of Birkdale(1960's-1980's)can be a mixed bag of housing (usually
highsets and some interesting characters). Prices up to $ million/s
for canal front homes. A lot of homes have swimming pools.

Plenty of choice for schooling (private/public). There are also a
    number of retirement villages.

Depending on lifestyle, plenty of sporting facilities in the area,
access to Moreton Bay, Cafe set in Wellington Point.
Approx 45 mins by train to Brisbane. Car times depends on departure
time and luck! Capalaba is the local major shopping/service area.

Elevated sites get the NE sea breezes in summer (important). Get
seperate building & termite inspection before you buy (very
    important).

Redland Shire is considered drought-free (or until the pump station
fire a while back <<<GGGG>>>) as water is extracted from Stradbroke
    Island. Shire population about 120,000.

    Local newspaper is http://redland.yourguide.com.au/home.asp
    Redland Council http://203.18.196.55

    Have fun and good luck
    Cheers
    Bill

PS Coldest day was a chilly 18ÂșC on 1/9/04 - first day of spring :-)

Here's the site for the citytrain rail network in Brisbane:

    http://www.railpage.org.au/railmaps/brisbane.htm

It is a suburb actually within the boundaries of the City of Brisbane - a
real advantage; with electric a/c train service. Many other suburbs
immigrants move to are actually in peripheral cities - Logan, Redlands, Pine
Shire etc. Facilities there are usually thinner on the ground and more
    expensive of access.

Bayside real estate is expensive compared to other areas. Schools, shopping
etc is all fine. Expect to have to commute to work from Birkdale.

    Good Luck!

will know more after our "research trip" in November!!

We hope to have visa by Xmas and be going early 2005 (depending on

    Hi

I have lived in Brisbane for over 40 years. It's a great place. I'm
currently living in Amsterdam with my Dutch partner and also looking for
answers to many questions to help migrate to Australia to live with me
    later this year.

THe bay side of Brisbane is in fact more like another community ... even
though part of Brisbane politically. If you can get a place near the
water in Manly or Wynum, it's pretty good... but expensive. Other great
areas to live near the bay are Cleveland, Redland Bay, Sandgate, and
Redcliff. Public transport from any of these areas up to the city is
one of the problems, especially bad in peak hour traffic.

Birkdale, Capalaba and other "half way" suburbs are on the main road
that leads from main Brisbane down to the bay ( a 20-30 minute drive).
They are purely residential areas with not a lot of character. But they
are cheaper areas to live in and are well serviced by supermarkets,
schools, etc ... and you are just that much closer to the bay if you
    like boating, windsurfing regularly.

    Hope this helps
