    Default Ormiston suburb brisbane

We are seriously looking at the Ormiston/Wellington Point for
purchasing a house up to 500K australian dollars. Kango_Jack gave me
some good information about the area. Could you or somebody else
inform me as to what is the best schooling in the area. We have the
Ormiston College website. Does anybody know if it is a good private
school and what are the possibilities of getting in i.e. are there huge
waiting lists. Also does anybody know whether Ormiston State Primary
school or Wellington Point state primary schools are good. Basically
what is the best option of the area private or state. Thanking you in
    advance.

My experience is that State Primary Schools are generally good. State High
Schools are another matter. Many locals enrol their children in Private
schools in their primary years to ensure a place in the secondary section of
    the school.
Ormiston College; Moreton Bay College; Iona College are all good private
    schools in the area!

Thank you A Mate for your reply. What are the waiting lists like. If
it is anything like Ireland you need to be on the waiting list from a
couple of weeks old. Are there any of the above colleges that stand
out from the rest and that have excellent academic facilities and
sporting facilities. Thank you for your information.

    All 3 have excellent facilities.
Ormiston College is co-ed at all levels.
Moreton College - co-ed at primary and girls only for secondary.
Iona is boys only at all levels.

I have best knowledge of Iona. It's owned and operated by the Oblates of
Mary - a Catholic monastic order, but all teachers are lay people. Sporting
facilities are excellent, ground spacious; and they have a superb Performing
Arts Centre with music and drama programs to match.
I think Ormiston College is non-denominational, while Moreton Bay College is
    affiliated with the Uniting Church.

All three colleges have informative web sites - Google away for details.
Only the College Registrar will be able to give you accurate information
    about waiting lists.

There is also Redlands College at Wello Pt.

Sheldon College, Carmel & Faith Lutheran are a bit further and the
daily drive may bit of a grind but I know of parents who do it.

Hi A Mate or someone in the know about bayside schools

Wondering can you help. You have given me some valuable information on
Iona College. Can you advise me what age they accept the boys from.
It states year 5 on website. Would this be 10 years old. Strongly
thinking of enrolling son (if possible for term beginning Jan 06).
What is the academic results like with the college. Also how far would
this school be from Wellington Point.

Lots of questions I know. But lastly do you know of any good boys
school that could be enrolled in up to year 5 as I have younger boys as
    well.

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Thanking you in advance.
