we live about 1 hour south of Brissie on the beach ... its the southern most
end of the Gold Coast ... lots of pubs, shops, restaurants, etc. ... there
is lots of construction going on with high rises being built on the beach
.... finding electrician work won't be any worries ... it is semi-rural about
5 kms west of the beach ... we love this area ... let me know if you have
    any questions, etc.?

    all the beast,

Hi, thanks for you reply. How long have you lived there, what is climat
like, hot? humid? rainy? We were originally thinking of Perth but met
group of Aussies and they advised us that Brisbane was the place to be
We are planning a trip over in March to have a look at areas, so ar
trying to get all the info we can to hopefully narrow it down a littl
    for when we get there.

    Many thanks Del & Pa

we've been here for over a year ... temps range between
20 deg C between the months of Feb to November and upper 20's to low 30's
the rest of the year ... from what i heard Brisbane runs a few degrees
hotter especially in western suburbs ...

when you come in March the weather will be cool and dry ... very pleasant
.... let me know if i can help with any additional info.

are planning on working when yo get here? what type of work do you do?

The Gold Coast is in the midst of a property building boom which woul
be ideal for you to find work, it is approx 1 hour south of Brisbane s
its ok to live in Brisbane and comute to the GC. I would personall
recommend you vist the Gold Coast on your recky trip, Ignore Surfer
Paradise as i think it will not be your thing , but look at the man
beautiful suburbs around on the GC. Currumbin Valley springs to min
and maybe The Observatory Development in the hills above Robina (nic
    shopping area)

Of course the best thing you can do is come over and check out ever
possible place for yourself, include the Gold Coast, Brisbane and th
Sunshine Coast on your list as they are all within reach of each othe
    and offer totally different lifestyles

Good Luck, if you want showing around when you arrive let me know

Ta again for replying, all the information we are getting is so helpful
Del is an electrician and I am a secretary for the legal department i
our local council. We are both 40 so will be working for quite som
time yet! Just think the toughest part (hopefully, once we ar
accepted) is choosing the right area. But our visit in March wil
hopefully help us decide that. What is the cost of property around th
    Gold Coast/suburbs near you please?

    Thanx

    Del & Pa

you can get a 2 bedroom unit near the beach in the 200's ... 3 bedroom
townhouse in the upper 200's ... brand new duplexes within 10 minute drive
to the beach are 300k and houses range from 400k and up ...

you can rent a nice 2 bedroom unit for about 290 AUD per week ... 3 bedrooms
for 350 ... all within walking distance to the beach ...

being that your employment will not be a problem ... both of your skills are
applicable to the local economy ... i'd say aim for the gold coast rather
than Brisbane ... just an opinion of course.

finally here is a link to real-estate in our area priced in the range of
300-450k ... just to give you an idea ...
