Taking A bunny ?
I know this is a strange question ,But can you take pet rabbits to
australia ?
We have a house rabbit which the wife and kids adore , (I like him
a bit too)
they are threataning to stay unless he can come with us.
Any advice would be great.

Domestic/pet lagomorph import seems to only be allowed from NZ
Commercial imports are possible from the UK.
I would recommend braving a separation - find bun a new home.
Here are some pages to view if you need to look further, BUT I would
strongly suggest contacting AQIS yourself and employing a shipping agent
- it is a minefield

I havent heard of anyone taking a rabbit, but my export experience has
been with cats and dogs.
I would say it would be a terribly stressful journey for a rabbit even
if it is possible.
I shall ask some vet nurse friends I use to work with and see
what they say.
I had rabbit stew once and I didnt like it.

Good news for the bunny being made of tough stuff - less likely to
be stewed!
I too had a very much loved bunny before I moved to Australia. I
considered bringing her here but she was already an old bunny and I
thought, even if she was allowed, the journey would just finish her off.
So I eventually found a fantastic home for her where I know she's being
really well looked after and is certainly well loved now. I must say I
was still incredibly sad to say goodbye to her!
Let us know how you go.
