Shipping 2 x cats to Perth, when should we book them in?
Hi all :
We received our Permanent residency Visa's last year and have not lon
come back from our Rekkie in Perth
We'll be putting the house on the market in the next week or so an
once the house has sold we'll be booking our flights and will be on ou
way
This brings me to my question. We'll also be shipping two cats out t
Perth with us but understand that the quarantine station in Perth get
full up pretty quickly so your advised to book in early
Has anyone had any experience of shipping pets out to Aus (particularl
Western Australia) who might be able to give us an idea of when to ge
the cats booked in
Its all about timing I guess. In the ideal world, we'll send the cat
out a month before us so we can pick them up from the quarantin
station when we arrive. However we won't know when we'll be due t
arrive until the house has sold...
Any tips/advise would be appreciated
Thanks al

Hi,
the AQIS website says that Byford Quarantine Station (i.e. Perth)
is very small and that pet owners should make reservations "months
in advance".
I would phone or email Byford and ask them what the current situation
is. Maybe you can make a "reservation" and if it turns out to be too
early cancel and re-book nearer the time.
Some people have posted that they ended up flying out while their pets
remained in kennels/cattery in the UK until a place at Byford became
available.
Here is the link to the details for Byford (just scroll down):
