    Default Perth or Adelaide???

    Hi,

I am really having a problem in choosing which city I want to immigrate.

At first I thought about Adelaide because all the facilities that the
goverments gives to immigrants, big companies have offices down there or
their headoffices in that city, besides their cost live is the lowest of
all the cities in Australia. Now I love outdoor sports mainly Rafting
and Kayaking, as well as surfing, and rock climbing, but checking
through the web I couldn't find any place to practice this sports in
Adelaide or even in South Australia, just surfing but it looks like is
    quite far from the city.

So then I look at Perth and about sports they have it all, but about
industries it doesn't seem that there are a lot, (most of them are in
the mines, which is not my expertise area, I am an Industrial
Engineer), so that means that the chances of getting a good job are not
that as high as in Adelaide, and also most of the jobs I have check,
they are temporal jobs, and their cost of living seems that is
increasingly quite fast, a couple of years ago Perth was the cheapest
    city, now is Adelaide.

I really don't know how is the work in Perth or in Adelaide, so if
somebody could help on this one I will really appreciate it. What big
companies are in Perth? Is it hard to find a job in Adelaide and Perth?

I need any kind of advice about these two cities, so I can choose which
    one I move.

    Thanks

    Hi lurocav...

You have a big decision to make! work wise I really can't help you... but
living wise, I can say that Perth is beautiful and for the sports you are
keen on, Perth is definitely the place to be (the surf is great down in
Margaret River...... not to mention we have some of the best local beaches
    around).

It is true though that in the last year or so, Perth's housing costs have
skyrocketed and we've become quite expensive in that domain! Adelaide is a
lot more slower paced.... but then again, Perth is quite slow paced and laid
    back too.

What sort of work do you do as an Industrial Engineer? Wherever you get a
job in this area, I imagine that pay will be substantial and you'll be able
to afford living either in Perth or Adelaide. Are you travelling on your
    own, or with family?

    Try this website - seek.com.au
They have over 9000 positions for Engineers.

    Anyhow, good luck!

    Lili

    Thanks Lili,

Like an Industrial Engineer, you can work as a Project Analizer or
Manager, as well as a Process Analizer or Manager, also you can be part
in the Logistics of a Company or in their Supply Chain structure, as an
    Analizer or Manager.
The companies that hired Industrial Engineers are most of them Consumer
companies (NESTLE, COCA-COLA, etc), or Manufacturer Companies as well as
some Consultant Companies that involve Strategic plans.

These are the enterprise and the type of jobs that are more likely to
    get a job.

Are there some of these ones in Perth??, seems to me that Perth is the
city I will like to go, I 'm just not very sure, due to the job
    oppurtunities that I could have.

    Thanks for your help

As far as I am aware, there are consumer-type companies like those you
mentioned here in Perth... Why don't you do a search online to see what you
    can come up with?

Unfortunately it is not my area of expertise

Good luck... and enjoy Perth if you do decide to come this way!
