All,
The Minister for Immigration has announced some long anticipated changes to the GSM system. http://www.smh.com.au/news/National/...366463763.html http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599...2-1702,00.html http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au...2-1702,00.html http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems...4/s1891689.htm As of now (6:20pm Sydney time) no official announcements have been posted in either the Education Minister or the Immigration Minister's website - no surprises given today's Good Friday. Thankfully, the DIAC website has been updated with more concrete information, which is available here: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...nges/index.htm Peter Registered Migration Agent 0427067 Specialist in ACS/RPL/IT cases Australian Immigration FAQ: http://www.ptlabs.com.au/visas/faq.php |

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the update. May I have your suggestion on my situation. My applicaiton to DIAC was acknowledged in February 2007. My IELTS score is above 6 in three modules but 5.5 in Reading unfortunately (average 6.0). I understand that new announcement will not be applicable to my case. Since DIAC is giving more emphasis on English, do you feel that my CO could refuse my case or could ask to take IELTS again although I have sufficient points (120+)? Should I take IELTS once again to ensure 6.0 in every module? Thank you in advance for your suggestion. Fa. |

I have claimed 15 points for English, because it should give me a total of 125. I am not sure if I could explain my query correctly. I am worried as new policy might influence CO to expect 6.0 even for the earlier applicants. Could this make them to look for a reason to reject the application subconsciously. I understand you might thinking "rubbish". But it may happen as we are human being. As you are dealing many cases, I am sure that you understand the working way of ASPC better than us. I assume that some of you clients succeeded with 15 points in English. - FA |

The new changes recently announce do not affect applications that have already been lodged, even if human beings are assessing cases in Adelaide :-) So you don't have any reason to worry.
