Longer Tourist Visas Now Open To Parents Of Australians

As we reported back in September, the Australian Imigration department was planning to grant longer term tourist visas for parents of Australian migrants.

Last Saturday (24th November) the changes went live. Chris Bowden, minister for Australian Immigration and citizenship said:

The ‘more generous tourist visas will enable regular extended family visits for those patiently waiting in the queue for a parent visa,’

‘Tourist visas will be considered on a case-by-case basis and will enable parents to spend more time in Australia with their families without needing to apply for a new visa each time they visit.

‘I know many Australians are looking forward to spending a longer period of time with their parents and I am pleased the government has been able to facilitate this.’ […]

Five Year Tourist Visa To Be Granted To Parents Of Australian Residents

Online tourist visas for Brazil and Argentina Now Available

Tourists from Brazil and Argentina can from today apply online for the e676 electronic tourist visa to visit Australia say the DIAC

A spokesman for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) said the e676 allows people to apply for a tourist visa electronically using a fast, secure and convenient application process.

Medical Insurance Should Be Requirement For Australian Tourist Visa

The vice president of the Victoria branch of the Australian Medical Association (AMA) has called for medical insurance to be a requirement on all Australian visa applications.

Dr Stephen Parnis claims that if tourists can afford an Australian holiday, then measures should be taken to ensure they do not abuse the rights their Australian visa affords.
